Do you level with slides out?

Yep, level first, then slide out, then check.. usually need to snug up stabilizers on side opposite the slide. We usually start with slide side slightly high (still inside lines on level, but high on slide side) since putting the slide out can settle that side a bit.. Just the way we have been doing it..

its logical to level first, since building the rv is based on level on the frame…being OFF level would put stress on the frame when slides are moved out, and would be exaggerated as the weight slides from center

Level first, then slides. with my one super slide if I put it out without leveling it will lean the camper at least an inch and a half! it would be a pain to have to put the slide in and out just to level it for the slide. by leveling it first, putting the stabilizers down and then putting the slide out it stays level.

And my manual (even our 05 we had) doesn`t state anything about leveling!

We have always leveled first, This time the owner's manual specifically says to level and set the rear stabilizers firmly before extending any of the slides.

Nice to have the manufacturer agree with me.

Level first and then slides. It makes sense that you do not want to take the slides out if the coach is really off level.

..Every TT and 5er I've ever owned stated to level unit first THEN slides out...Don't know about MH, never owned one

As far as using slide supports, we camped close to a 5er that must have rented site for the summer?? not sure, but they had been there for awhile. Don't know how long 5er had been there without anyone checking on it, but it had all three slides out with supports underneath the slides and one side had two tires that were very low on air...slide was being pushed upward about 3-4"....No one around to tell, but wondered if it damaged the owners slide out, it looked bad. Most manufacturers don't recommend using them under one's slide for the very reason I mentioned above..

If it isn't level, then level it, otherwise you put your fridge at risk. If the slides are big and heavy, they'll probably affect the level if you've done that first.

On our Georgetown there's no discernble difference either way.

It never occurred to me just how hard it would be to level with this slide sticking out. :

If your opinion is different from the people that engineered and built it, why would your opinion be better?

My opinion is based on mfg. recommendation AND on actual experience as I have leveled my 5vr with the slides out and it was a PITA because low side was curbside where slide out is completely over the wheels and had to crawl on hands and knees to get under slide to lay boards downs.

And that is my opinion......worthless as it may be and mfg. agrees with my opinion :B
