That's what I said. Her response though was that it's for my mother more than anything. She is 76 this year, and end of 2014 my wife's father gave us a trip to disney, but my mom wasn't part of it, so we left her home while we were gone for 2 weeks. This is to make up for that, and I can't argue against that.
And, why the subject is Overly Ambitious, and I was pretty much dead right on that! It is overly ambitious. It's different if it was just me heading to an air museum in CA in my truck, but doing something like that with 4 other people, totally different. Back in 2013 I went to Chino, did it in two days, spent a day and a half there, then drove to Vegas, spent 2 days there, then drove back home in two days. It felt like it was over before it started.
I am replanning this vacation to something closer, less ambitious, but still different than the norm. Dells is close, but its the typical vacation spot, crowded, same ol same ol of water parks and novelty shops. Yeah the kids will lilke it, but they get to go to Rockford water parks all the time. I think a trip to Wyoming would fit the bill. Mount Rushmore and Devils tower, its 12 hours from here, so that can be done, two day trip to there, see the sites, take some back road trips to unusual places, a round about path home. I think that would be better, and plan the GC/Bryce for next year. Hopefully then my wife will have actual real vacation time.
