I used to drive at night, setup at night, leave late in the day - get home at night and unload at night.
Now that I'm old, I don't have to any more - so I don't.
I don't do 500 mile a day drives, usually closer to 200-250 is my max.
The worst part of driving at night is setting up at night - if I can find the campground open. More and more parks are locking the gate at 10 pm, so it is get there before then, or WallyDock for the night. WallyDocking is NOT fun with daytime temps in the mid-high 90s and nighttime lows over 80. Plus in mid-summer the sun can be setting at 9 pm.
(Our base is near Dallas Texas - we've traveled from New Mexico to Key West to Maine and back in the past 24 months.)
