If you're at a FHU campsite, the stuff you do before stepping outside your RV will make a difference. I do put in the tank treatment product as I'm finishing up any trip. That is mostly to make sure the RV doesn't pick up smells in between trips.
If you're at a FHU campsite and are unlikely to have "capacity" problems in your black tank. Start by dumping more water into the tank as soon as you're connected to city water. Then encourage everyone to use plenty of water every time they use the toilet. Our RV tech who taught me the basics emphasized how most people don't put enough water in.
On the last morning I'll stand on the toilet valve dumping more water in while brushing my teeth or shaving. My info panel is inside my bathroom, so I know I won't be over-filling the tank.
Having the clear elbow helps you learn what works or not. After a dry-camping weekend that included 4+ miles of dirt road, I could see how different that tank looked compared to dumping at a FHU spot.
As long as you're not creating a poop pyramid, jamming the dump valves, or causing the RV to stink - not getting it 100% clean isn't an issue.
