The first time you do it, be sure you have time and patience. For some vehicles, there is a good chance of cutting a seat with the sharp edge on the bottom or side of the cover. If you can't work out a good, safe way to get the cover out of the way, consider removing the passenger seat. That is by far the best approach on our 92 GM 2500 van - just four nuts holding the seat to its metal base, and presto, lots of room to take the engine cover out.
