- EscargotExplorerCall previous owner and begin by asking if she / he minds.
Personally, I would not want to be contacted but would still be polite enough to answer one or two questions regarding operation. Otherwise I wouldn't want to be the person who contradicts anything you were told when buying the unit. - rv2goExplorer III have to agree with Matt and Steve also.
I have contacted previous owners when buying used and have also been contacted on my trade ins. - Jack_Diane_FreeExplorerThey could tell you things that you do not want to hear.
- Matt_ColieExplorer IISteve is completely correct, the dealer has no say in the issue. As the coach was at a dealership, it was probably traded-up from....
That said, they prpbably have good memories of that coach. So, if you call and they don't throw the phone down (very unlikely), then be ready to be on the phone a very long time and maybe make a new friend.
This happens in the sailboat world all the time.
Matt - Francesca_KnowlExplorerWould you want to be called out of the clear blue sky by someone that just bought an old car that you thought you'd seen the last of at a dealer's? I know I wouldn't.
Truth be told, I'm surprised there was anything in the rig identifying the previous owner...seems to me that the most appropriate course would be to have the dealer contact them and get their permission for you to call them. - Steve_S1ExplorerI don't see why it would be an issue and I'm sure the previous owners would be glad to answer questions.
As for the dealer who cares what they think they're just after your money!
