First time traveling through Colorado and freezing temps

So we're from Florida and passing through Colorado to get to Wyoming for a winter vacation, I've been told that the roads might be bad in Colorado and covered in ice/snow? Does anyone here have any ex...

portland is snow everywhere and freezing rain coming tonight so do not count on the weather in the west or it will bite you hard.be sure you are carrying chains.
you will not be able to cross the blue mtns or columbia gorge with out them.depending on the weather they will either have to carry them or use them.
my advise is fly,stay home or come in the summer
