299 over the coast range from Redding to 101 is a very twisty route. This road can be a real workout with a big vehicle.
There are a number of pull-offs for traffic relief. Weaverville is a good stopping point for a rest. There is camping at Trinity Lake NE of Weaverville, it fills up fast though.
Redding is usually hot and the coast will be chilly. We've seen 45 degrees on 101 and 101 degrees on arrival in Redding.
