First travel trailer help

On our recent search for a new TT we went everywhere looking. I found that it was easy to get confused on what u had looked at. I found it helpful to take lots of pictures of the inside and outside of the ones I liked for reference. Make sure you take a pic of the model too.

I'd stay close to 5k dry. Flush all the fluids. Replace the shocks. Get a WDH with integrated sway control and a proportional brake controller. Enjoy!

Thanks to all of you for your help and fast replies. I'll do some payload research and go from there.

BUT during the recession, Jayco moved Starcraft's production into their own factories for a couple of years. they were the same for that short time.
then Starcraft moved back to their own factories and has been making their own RVs and designs since then.

I just went through a similar purchasing decision (see my thread under totally newbie on this forum). We have the 2010 Suburban 1500 and end up getting a StarCraft AR-ONE MAXX 20BHLE. We paid $12K for it, new.

I think the only difference between my Suburban and yours is the transmission. I have the 6 speed while you have the 4 speed. So there is a better chance I can find a good RPM on the highway than you do.

StarCraft does make a 19 ft version (19BHLE) that's 500 lbs lighter. You may want to check it out. Both are bunkhouse plan so there is no need to setup beds each night. We have twins, 3 years old.

You're in Indiana so you're really close to StarCraft's factory. You should be able to find great deals there since the dealers don't have to pay much transportation charge.

I just bought a Salem 30 qbss. Pretty nice for a first time trailer. Like you I always tent camped. Decided to go with the bunkhouse so when my GK comes camping she has her own bed and storage.

I'm pulling it with a F150 Supercab. My max tow is 9700. This trailer weighs 6575 with a cargo weight of 3200. There's no way I will put 3200 lbs in the trailer.

Its all about payload. towing capacity wont be your limiting factor. think payload - tongue weight (roughly 13 percent of loaded weight NOT DRY WEIGHT) - your hitch (80-100 lbs) - vehicle occupants - gear leaving you with im guessing not that much.

Sadly it appears you probablly have a 1500 burb? Load your family and stuff jp and go to the scales. You will likely find your already at the max weiht limits, so how much more you can pile on without some consequences is a real question mark.

I recommend a used TT, but one that is <5 years old. 2 or 3 even better. TT can loose 50% or more of their value in the first 2 years.

Add an auxiliary transmission cooler to your Suburban.
