Beemerphile is right, the antenna knows not if the signal is going to be analog, digital, or even other frequencies. They are designed to receive signal in a range of frequencies, Ultra High Frequency being one and Very High Frequency being another. It may be that your new antenna is receiving more stations because you have better continuity to the cable than any special design features. I've just looked at the two bigger sellers of RV antennas and there is not much difference between the two. Since they limit the reception by designing in a "swept" shape and a short height, there are better designs out there, especially for UHF.
