OP here…My info came from the driver of white car that hit me. He called me to give update on his passenger and being we both had Honda’s asked what body shop I was going to use. He got his info when he was waiting for his Dad to pick him up, so he could go up to hosp to check on his passenger and get a ride home. After the red light runers car was towed away he talked with the cop that was still on scene. That was where info came from. I left scene as soon as I could as my car was still drivable and I was able to drive it home.
After seeing the replies posted here, and most don’t agree with the question of, if LE has info on weather phone was in use at time of accident or not. So probably not true if LE can tell if phone in use or not.
I do remember reading that our county got some fed money for some LE technology. So I called one of our local LE to ask. We were in same military unit and spent many days in middle of nowhere solving all the worlds problems. We had a ton of LE in our military reserve unit. Mostly all great guys. Emphasizing "mostly". The fed money we got was for license plate readers to cut down on vehicle theft. But I did find out how our LE units are equipment. Which I found interesting to what they are able to do from there patrol car nowdays.

(takes awhile to load but interesting)
For you guys going back and forth...is it possible that some search and seizure laws vary from state to state?
