Foot throttle sensor

I have a 1998 Country Coach Allure with a 325 Cummins
I have no throttle at all the engine doesn't rev when applying the gas pedal.
We tested the foot throttle sensor and it jumps from 0 to 3900 with no graduale reading like the manual said it should.
I got a replacement from Williams controls and it doesn't register anything on th ohm reader (They arent open yet so I'll talk to them then)
But in the mean time do you think I'm looking in the right place?
Or is there another route to take?
Thank you for any advice
  • Just some FYI if anyone runs into this problem
My 98 Country Coach/diesel Cummins / King cruise control
I had no foot throttle also couldn't shift
Located the King Cruise Control box back near the engine and tested the RED wire going into the box from the front it was loose......all my troubles are fixed now from the loose wire.
  • Since your vehicle is a 98 model check this website.
    www.cumminshub.com/service/cummins-apps.html
T his procedure should be what you need.
The apps sensor is fairly pricey depending on where you get it.
    Good Luck!!
  • I dont know about a Dodge but my 7.3 PSD did that to me at Home Depot one time. It idled fine but thats it. Turns out it was a 10A fuse, who would have thought. Why it blew no one knows but it did. I had it towed and it cost me $100 to find that out.
  • How much voltage should be at the foot throttle sensor?
    King Cruise Control 2600
    Williams Control PEDAL
    I dont care about spelling
I just want someone to answer that knows what they are talking about

The big problem is more than likely the gas pedal. You need a diesel pedal for that motor!! ;)

Seriously. I think your in the right spot. Is the new sensor a genuine Cummins part or is it aftermarket? It’s possible you got a bad sensor.

Is a gas pedal the same as a gas peddle? How is that different from an accelerator pedal?:W

  • The throttle may not be a simple potentiometer, but some other sort of sensor--maybe a hall effect sensor, or an optical encoder--in which case you wouldn't necessarily read anything with an ordinary ohmmeter when disconnected.

I don't think you're barking up the wrong tree. The symptoms and measurements of the old system do seem to corroborate with each other.
  • You'll have to do some research but with some Cummins there is a calibration routine you have to go through after replacing the TPS or APPS.
