fresh water tank.. needed?

Probably not, unless you go to sell it. Mine has a large tank, but since I overnight in FHU parks, I just don't fill it to the top. I take jugs of distilled water along for cooking and coffee wherever I am, so I only need water for flushing when on the road.
I was stuck in a two hour traffic jam on an expressway on my way to YNP one time. No trees. No houses. Nothing to hide behind when the need arose for people traveling in cars. I could have made a bundle, but I didn't want strangers in my bathroom. Other RVers probably paid off their loans that day.

We've found too many campgrounds over the years with poor quality water to want to go anywhere without a full fresh tank. Freezing weather is another factor in the tanks favor. Even here in central Florida we unhooked the water line the other night rather than risk having it freeze when the temp dropped to 28 deg.F overnight.

Do you need one - no.

But as others have indicated, there are many reasons to have one. If you wait until you are ready to sell, it will be an expense you're not going to want to bother with. But it will severely reduce buyer interest.

In addition, you never know when you might decide on a particular destination only to find out there are no hookups. Or a beeakdown, road closure, etc leaves you stuck with no hookup options. The fresh water tank is cheap insurance for that.

And, it will be a lot easier to add it back in now than it will several years down the road.

Im all for putting it back in at some point. But if it's not needed in for the water stuff too work, I can leave it out for a while. There was a tank and pump in it when we got it but I don't know if the pump works and the tank looks pretty scuzzy. I would want to get new ones. But would like to use camper until I get around to replacing them.

Gutted the TT for whatever reason...ok...got it. But what happened to the tank and pump that you removed???? Both the pump and tank were junk?

If both were junk and you are absolutely sure you don't need them, fine. Why ask then? Personally, I think its foolish to leave them out. Its not a huge cost, and if you do ever need it, or want to sell the TT....well.............

Even if most of us think you should have a water tank, you have already decided not to have one. So why post?

It sounds like no tanks or pump would be good for you. Just realize that if/when you go to sell it the value will be greatly reduced because of not having a fresh water tank. Altho, At that point your TT may be just the thing a hunter may want for a hunting cabin. I say, go with what makes you comfortable. The future is not guaranteed.
