well, once/year is what we do. And heaven forbid we actually DRINK water from the fresh tank. I just drain the tank when we get home, fill before we leave on a trip. That way I have known good tasting water when we get to the campsite, don't need to hook up, don't need to worry about no water for some reason at a campground etc.
