BoonDocker, so looked it up and saw 2/3 teaspoon for 8 gal or 8%, so yeah about 1 tsp/10 gal.
More isn’t going to hurt you, but municipal water supplies run 2-4ppm. After disinfecting water transmission lines or services, the residual can’t be more than 2ppm per most specs.
Add as much as you want if you’re really concerned about the water quality or want to pretend you’re drinking out of a swimming pool.
Otherwise if it’s pretty much any potable source don’t add anything.
Germophobes are like weight cops on here. Sometimes looking for a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist.
If you think your meat is made in a grocery store and all the water you drink comes from a glacial stream that is treated with UV, GAC and chlorine for disinfection, you’re mistaken. The latter are only used when dirty nasty surface water is made potable.
I haven’t had 2 teaspoons of chlorine in the house water for almost 15 years. But I’ve built water treatment plants and miles of water line and can say with confidence that you won’t see municipal water with as much chlorine as you’re talking about.
