Fridge on propane while driving

I have read opposing opinions on this. Should I just run the generator to power the refer or is it okay to utilize it on propane while driving down the road?

NO. Terrible waste of fuel if that is all you need the generator for.

Either......leave it on propane (except when filling the fuel tank) OR get a few "ice packs", put a couple into the fridge section and shut it OFF while moving.
  • There are thousands of RVs in transit right now running the fridge on propane. This is how they were designed to work. Your call.
  • You are most likely going to get mixed opinions here, as well. I would consult your owners manual or contact the manufacturer. My opinion, which should not be worth dirt to you, is to go ahead and run it on propane while traveling. I don't do that, though. My fridge stays cold and my freezer stays frozen from one campsite to the next without running it on anything. It is well insulated.
  • You need to do what is right for you. I leave it on due to the very low risk of a propane issue when driving, some turn it off.

For me the much higher risk is other drivers like the driver 2 days ago that cut 3' in front of me at 60 MPH.
