Not necessarily true! At least not as cool as I want, even if the electricity is paid. Spent two weeks in Bullhead City AZ, temps well over 100 degrees every day. With two roof airs running 24 hours a day we never got it below 90 degrees inside until after dark.
I would expect as much when camping in the dessert - regardless of the color scheme.
