Our approach has always been to keep the process simple and use various appliances as they were engineered/designed for.
1. Our fridge is put on the auto-sense mode (24+hrs) before departure. If plugged in, it cools on ac-if not, it cools on gas.
2. When we leave and feel the house ac is needed, the gennie comes on and the fridge uses ac mode. If no gennie, the fridge goes to gas mode. If on gas mode, turn off prior to fueling or going through some tunnels if signs are posted.
3. We also use a digital thermostat that comes with (2) sensors, one for the fridge and one for the freezer that lets us monitor the temps at a glance when we walk by the fridge when traveling or setup at a cg.
