I remember the days when RVers were a community. We waved to each other. We gave each other the thumbs up to say that our visual indicated that all was well. We also looked for and respected a signal that something was potentially wrong. Heck, we even sometimes pulled over along with them to see if there was something we could do to help. We do what's right because of who we are not depending on how it might be received. I like the whiteboard idea!
