I don't see a thing wrong with the flashlight idea during the day. Whatever it takes to get their attention.
This started with someone bragging about a strobe light.
"Bragging" aND "strobe" implies obnoxious, distracting, and it sure wouldn't convey that you have something wrong.
Whatever it takes?...ok, pull in front of them and start swerving, blocking the road and stop...that will work well...:E
Amazing the lengths some people will go to just to slander others and be belligerent.
If the goal is to get the attention of an unaware driver in order to rectify an incredibly unsafe situation on the highway, yes, a bold action like a bright strobing flashlight is appropriate.
Of course being polite and not flashing a light and someones face but rather waiting for the trailer to come free of the tow vehicle would be much more civilized.
However the people driving BEHIND that driver might prefer the flashlight had been used though.
Nobody has slandered anybody, just disagreed. And as has been said, blinding a driver isn't a good idea, ever. And nobody has said letting a trailer come free would be more civilized. You are putting a lot of words in peoples posts that weren't said.
Jim
Speaking of a lot of words that were never said, you really think you could blind someone with a 3 AAA battery flashlight in their rear view mirror from probably 75' back?
I didn't see any 'bragging' and I certainly can't by any stretch of the English language figure out how a shirt pocket sized flashlight used to get the attention of a driver in a potentially deadly situation could be described as "obnoxious".
Well, not anyone with even a bit of common sense anyways.
