Getting waste to flow up into a waste tote.

I'm not very good at parking yet so I bought a 42 gallon waste tote so I don't have to move my camper when my black tank is full. My black tank holds 32 gallons so I figured the 42 gallon tote would be best. My problem is the tank is higher than the dump tube on the trailer. Any suggestions on getting waste water to flow up hill into tote? It's just a little higher than the pipe coming out so I have to work the hose by hand to get it into the tote.
  • sounds like a fun day. REMEMBER ,,POO does not flow up hill. take the rv to a parking lot and practice backing up.
  • When I am putting gray water into my 25 gallon tote, I almost always have the same problem.
I simply lay the drain hose on the ground between the Trailer outlet and the tote inlet. Then when the hose is full, pick up the end near the outlet and raise it higher then the tote inlet. This will cause what is in the hose to flow into the tote.
Repeat it moving the raised portion toward the tote.

Once the amount that was in the hose is in the tote, repeat the process and just keep doing it until your tote is full.

A 42 gallon tote is way to big to handle !

  • newbies always focus on the black tank, more than the gray tank.

we have NEVER used our tote tank for black water. we use it for gray water ONLY.

your gray tank will fill up WAY faster than your black tank.
we have a 25 gallon black tank and the two of us can go weeks before filing it.
but our 25 gallon GRAY tank will be full in 4-5 days.

use higher chocks or jacks to raise the rv..... or dig a trench to lower the tote. maybe get a smaller tote and make two trips

a 42 gallon tote weighs ~400 pounds when full easier to move the rv, bud
