golf carts / camp vehicles

what kind of golf carts or campsite vehicles are you running? i'm looking for a 4 wheel motorized cart of some sort that'll haul my wife and 3 pets.

thinking of getting a golf cart customized.

would love to hear ideas and what you're running .. lets see some photos too
  • I'll be honest, I don't like them in the campground. We're at Pirateland in Myrtle Beach right now, and I'm amazed at how walkable this place is, but there's hundreds of golf carts running everywhere. Sure they look neat sometimes, but it's irritating to be out walking and constantly buzzed by the things flying by.
  • We had a Club Car golf car. Was not street legal and we didn'the know enough to get one with lights on it .... oh well, for in the park it was great. Dogs could be on back when seat laid down and fur kids secured.
  • I intend to use a Kawasaki Eliminator 125. A little cruiser. Only 125 CC so not highway legal, but it can get up to 50-55mph so it can keep up with traffic off-highway with no problem.

Have hitch receive and ramp/carrier all set to go.
  • I take a Yamaha Riva scooter with me on most trips. Only use it outside the campground except to get to and from the exit. It's a legally licensed motorcycle for which I hold an endorsement and it is insured with the same limits as my cars and trucks.

That said, inside the campground I use my bicycle or my two feet. Nothing more disturbing during a quiet night by the fire than a circling club car with nowhere to go but back to where it started.

In the campground I stayed at last week, I don't think the golf carts there were ever parked. Sitting at my campsite was like being on pit road at the world's slowest NASCAR race. What's the prize for having the sickest whip at the trailer park?

Make sure it meets regulations and is street legal.

In Ariz. around the town of Surpise, you can only use the golf cart on streets that are posted at 35MPH and your cart has to be able to do 35mph. It is not uncommon to read in the paper about people in golf carts getting into accidents with cars, guess who gets the worse end of that deal:)
