When you purchase an RV from a Camping World, they give you and "Elite Membership". In 2010 when we bought the TT we used to own, they didn't have this, but had the "30 days of free camping". Which was to a location of one of their membership parks (Travel Resorts of America - part of GS). As mentioned, you have to sit through their sales pitch in order to receive it. But I don't believe you can use that time just anytime. I think there are some restrictions.

When we bought our motorhome in 2013, we got a 3 year Elite membership status. Already being lifetime members, it really didn't offer us much more. At least nothing of "wow" proportions. You do get a free inspection every year. After a year or so (when your warranty is out of date) they will tell you that you need work done to your two year old motorhome, like $1000 worth of resealing (arggh)...

But all in all, you have to buy an RV from them to get the elite status...not worth it to persuade you to buy from them in my opinion.

The PDF in this link says that one gets a $1,000.00 certificate to enjoy the ultimate camping experience at the Coast to Coast family of membership resorts.

What if I’m already a Good Sam Club Life member?
If you are already a Good Sam Life member prior to your RV purchase from Camping World, your Life membership and existing Life membership number will remain active for Life, but for three years from your RV purchase date you will enjoy the enhanced benefits and status of a Good Sam Club Elite membership.

My understanding was that there were approx. 170 campgrounds that were totally free for GS Elite members - which you get for buying a TT from CW. I wish I had a link - that's what I'm looking for. There was never any mention of a timeshare presentation. If that's what this is - then it is worthless as previously mentioned.

After posting my question above I got a call from someone at GoodSam, but missed it while I was working. GoodSam guy - please just post the details here to clear up all the confusion. Maybe even set up a separate thread for the elusive Elite Member details?

On another note - has anyone seen Sasquatch lately? I heard he has Elite status, maybe he can clear this up?

These CG's all have free cable TV. You get to watch "The Profit" and then commercials on camping world sales. If you go to the lounge area, you can cozy up next to the electric fireplace and read the latest edition of Trailer Life where they are currently devoting a 2 or more page article about surge protectors that CW sells - and following the end of the article on the left page, the right page contains a full page CW advert selling the same ones you jest read about!

Buy a unit from CW and you are "elite" status. Big whoop. We got that too. The free camping comes with the high pressure sales presentation you are required to attend for a membership/coast to coast thing. We were told too that you get put to the front of the line for service.....and that's still always 2 weeks or more out for an appointment to get anything done. Didn't help us when we needed it while we were on the road on a big trip. Was told that "everybody's elite status".

We did get 2 years of roadside service and the medical assist membership with the elite status so it isn't totally worthless. Its really just a perk of buying from Camping World and Good Sam enterprises.
