grey water tank

I bought a truck and to my surprise it has an RV inside of it! I had no idea when I bought this truck. I bought this truck for commercial use and now that I am using it for delivering commercial goods I am slowly trying to figure out how all of these different systems work. I am hoping to find some help here.

Grey water tank. Is there anything I can use to clean this thing out? the sink has a hard time draining and I am wondering if its clogged or even if the tank is dirty? Can you use home remedies like a snake on the end of a drill or draino?

  • Sink has a drain line with a 'p' trap and then goes to grey tank....just like a home

Remove the 'p' trap and clean out the drain line. You can use a snake down drain line as it is the same type of pipe as home.
Be careful using ANY drain cleaners....won't hurt the piping but could damage the dump valve seals causing them to leak.

    Cleaning the grey tank.....
After you get the sink drain line/'p' trap cleaned out pour hot/soapy water down sink into grey tank (several buckets) then take truck for a drive.
Dump tank when you get back.
  • I own and operate a commercial truck fleet. I needed a 10ton truck (10 wheeler) with a sleeper berth in it. I bought this truck at auction sight unseen. It has low miles, 26' box, hydraulic lift gate and a sleeper. When the truck was delivered I saw that the previous owner cut the sleeper and extended it and installed a bunch of rv systems in it. I Dont really care about the rv stuff. Its just a truck to generate money for my business. However the more I play with all these systems the more I like it.

The truck is a 2007 freightliner Columbia it has 900k miles and a 500hp mbe4000 engine.

The questions I am asking I am not attempting to be confusing, I thought I should separate all my questions into new threads. Its usually easier to get an answer and close the thread and hopefully someone else can stumble across it and it will help them out. Instead of a long rambling question which needs 6 answers

The question here was just for the holding tank that holds the drain water from the sink and shower. Do I need to service this thing chemically? Or is there anything I need to know about this thing?

What does that even mean? Maybe if you said what you actually own you wouldn't need to start multiple confusing threads.
  • Welcome to the forum.

Can you please explain what kind of truck you bought with a RV inside?

Didn't you look at the truck before you made the purchase? :)
