It's not so much not wanting to live by the laws of Canada when one goes to Canada. But it is a bit of a bother to want to go to Canada for a short stay and have to leave you gun behind. Kind of forces one to come and go at the same place after finding a place to stash your gun for a while.
I would suggest the op get a book or download a file or app that shows the laws of each state. federal law allows you to go unmolested if going through a state, but some aren't real happy if you stop there with guns in your procession..
