I think then the best course of action is to declare, with both hands on the steering wheel, and ask the LEO how they would like to proceed.
X2. Been there. Shortly after we moved to Billerica hubby got stopped for speeding. Both of us were carrying. We informed LEO, he took correct precautions, licenses checked out and we went on our way. We had asked what we should do and he said exactly what we did. Although he agreed as long as we are legal it's not his business he also said discretion is the better part of valor. If you are abiding by the law you are best off to let the LEO know.
