Since when does one have to be "legally licensed" to own a firearm in the U.S.?
Don't have to be licensed to OWN... but several states require a license to CARRY, depending upon the weapon.
OP, each state (and in some cases even CITIES) have their own laws, their own reciprocity and their own definitions.
Maryland is one of the most liberal states in the union and one CANNOT wear, carry or transport a handgun in a vehicle unless you have a concealed carry permit or if you are going to or from a target shooting event. Even then there are specific regulations for how the handgun is to be carried. On the other hand, there are no such regulations for rifles and shotguns (unless they are on a special list...) to be worn or carried. Then again in the county where I work as a cop, there are specific local designations of an urban area where certain guns are prohibited. There are also other area designations where any type of firearm is prohibited.
The high courts in Maryland have not (at least the last time I researched it) defined what type of structure a RV is in terms of a gun law. Its a vehicle, as it is easily moved, therefore you cannot wear, carry or transport. On the other hand, it is also a residence, where you need no permit to wear, carry or transport. It depends upon how the cop, prosecutor and judge/jury define the vehicle.
In summary, do your due diligence and good luck!
