Many of our state parks have no hookups.
same thing in California. less than 1% of Calif. state parks have hookups of any kind and most that do, are Water/electric only.
personally, we were former tenters/popupers, so we are used to no hookups. we rarely camp with any hookups because we would have to stay at a private RV campground, which is not our style of camping(pools, laundry rooms, clubhouse, kiddie park and so on).
if you can't even convince your husband, i don't see how you'll be able to convince the others.
maybe you could get him to read this thread and post why he feels FHU's are so necessary.
