I say give it all a try in life. why not? being closed to new experiences means he might just be passing by a wonderful new discovey.
when we first started long long ago we tent camped in state parks. loved it.
when we 'graduated' into rv'ing we wanted to hit full hookup, full amenity campgrounds. it was new, fun, wonderful. but then it hit us...hmm...we love the state parks. heck we can bring a camper there :) and we switched over.
it isn't one or the other. you can go anywhere you want on whatever type of vacation you decide to plan. I plan easy slow wonderful state park beach vacations. where the beach is what we want only. then hit a full hookup, amenity full cg near a tourist area and enjoy some attractions.
the sky's the limit!! go for all experience and enjoy that rv.
