"If you only have a 40 gal fresh, how are you going to put 80 gal in the gray and 40 gal in the black? That's strange."

Actually, I have a 48 gal FW and 160 gal (4x40) of blacks and grays. Normally I'm on "city water" so the big tanks mean I drain less often. We carry bottled water for coffee and drinking (we don't drink from FW tank)and then there are the other beverages we like. Our FW is mostly used to shower and wash dishes.
All depends on how you use your trailer.
