Sounds like you're really looking forward to your retirement. While I love the 22 years I spent in the USAF, it was definitely time to move on. I now plan to retire for good the end of next month, with traveling being a big part of our plans.
Personally, while I'm sure you can live okay on the money you'll have, traveling and exploring might be a little tough. RV's are gas hogs be it a towed unit or a motorhome. Maintenance can run fairly high as well with there being options to help keep the price there if you're a decent mechanical type and can do a lot of it yourself. Keep in mind it's somewhat difficult to keep all the tools you might need for some stuff in the RV with you. There are things you can do to help financially such as campground hosting, or part time jobs in areas you might want to stay in for awhile. The Escapes website has some good stuff by full timers that you might find useful. Planning your travels to minimize driving and weather extemes can help with fuel costs for both driving, and heating/cooling of the RV. Staying long enough at each location to get discounted prices, or mixing things up with boondocking can also help a lot.
Get with a benefits counselor in regards to your Tricare benefits. There are a couple plans available to you with differences in coverage when you're traveling due to coverage areas.
Welcome to the forums. To me you appear to be off to a great start by researching well in advance. I would think some great adventure awaits you.
