Take your time deciding, research and if possible rent different units to see what best fits your needs.
Myself (retired Navy)I like the trailer because I can unhook and use the truck to explore, shop etc. also the bed along with a roof rack is used for hauling kayaks, etc. A toy hauler might fill the bill too also 5th wheels can haul lots of items.
2K a month is doable if the unit is paid for but you will still have upkeep on the unit, Good luck and thanks for your service.
