Charlie, We have been housesitters for decades. Including caring for pets. When we offer our services we provide solid references the the homeowner can verify. We have never had a compliant and we are often ask to come back over and over to the point that we have had to turn down some homeowners because of demand. If done properly, getting references and doing background checks, house setting can be a very positive experience. We tried renting our house while traveling and it was a disaster. Once we decided to travel full time, year round, we did sell the house but that was after we were absolutely sure life on the road was what we wanted. We have set up our itinerary around house setting gigs. Some are for only a week, some for months and a very few longer term. Hope this helps. Chuck
