Lots to consider. We owned and developed commercial real estate until a year ago. We are in an odd situation. While living aboard our boat in 2007, my mother in law started having health issues. We sold our house and added on to hers so we could move in and take care of her. She passed at 90 in 2011. In 2012, my mom needed help so we renovated again and moved her in. After she passed, we were in a house that was 4 times more expensive than neighboring houses. No regrets at all but we have a house we can never sell for what's in it.
Right now we have two young sisters across the street and either of them said they'd love to house sit. That option is around until some lucky boy sweeps them away. No trust issues with them.
We did use property managers with our commercial stuff and I had not thought about that. I do know a contractor I trust. Commercial tenants do their own up fit and usually left a clean space. Over the years I've told those who asked that residential tenants have rights and to avoid that kind of investments.
The plants I mentioned have executives who want to build mcmansions and need a place to stay while they build.
I guess it's look at sitters or call my guy and see what he'd charge to check the house a time or two each month.
Thanks all
This is still a was off but options are a good thing to have
