If it is working and you are not replacing batteries, then I would not worry about it. My converter.charger lasted 15 years. Unless you plan on doing a lot of boonedocking and need a bank of expensive deep cell batteries, then a upgrade may be worth it. If you will mostly be on shore power in RV parks and only occasionally using your battery for a few hours in Wally World parking lot, I would leave well enough alone.
When my old converter died I did get a "smart" 3 stage unit, but I still do not think I have needed one. It is nice to see the light come on and tell me it is getting rid of the sulfur build up, or on float, or charging battery.
