How do I rate a campground on the Good Sam website

I see ratings for the Good Sam Campgrounds when I am looking up places to stay but I can't see how to rate one myself after staying there? I'm sure its obvious but I can't find it.

Thank you

  • I would never think to look for reviews on Good Sam site. I always use RV Park Reviews, as mentioned above. It's worked for me. I just sort out the best reviews and the worst reviews for any given park. Some folks give a review on the strangest things...like weather, etc. I just look for what I'm interested in getting from a park.

As previously mentioned, RV Park Reviews allows campers that stayed there to review the parks. But if you look at several of them, you'll find that the low marks and the high marks are often based on things out of the CG owner's control, nor are there any definitions of what's a 10 and what's a 1. I've seen CGs get a 1 from somebody because they allow golfcarts and others that give the same CG a 10 because they allow those same golfcarts.

+1. I've seen 1/10 ratings for some of the most petty or weird things imaginable. For example, faulting the RV park because there are train tracks nearby, while other people mention that the park has excellent Wi-Fi, bath houses, top tier hookups, 24 hour services, etc.

To help counteract that, I try to post a review for every place I go to, and edit it if something changes. For example, one place has two sections separated by a pond. One section has good wi-fi, but is fairly near a road. Past the pond, it is quiet (except for the bullfrog mating calls), but one has to use their own cellular items. People downvote the RV park because of the lack of Wi-Fi in the back section, and I like being able to clear that up. Wi-Fi is VERY expensive to do right, and unless a CG doubles their rates, people should be lucky to get any signal at all.
  • Thanks for your comments. I have started posting on the RV website mentioned above for RV Reviews. I agree, I think it is good to see the professional one and the ones from we campers. We are, after all, the ones that use them, and things can change from the one day of the year that the professional reviewer goes around to the next year.
  • Why not do what most sites do and have both user and professional reviews? I like to read both so that I get a good balance.
  • In the latest Good Sam park review book, they explain that the parks are now reviewed by folks that actually have a checklist of things to look for and the definitions for the grades. Its in the back of the book.

Thanks I'll check that out. I did send a message to the website manager of the Good Sam website and asked them. I was told that it is now not possible for we the members and users of the campsites to review the parks. I replied back saying that is very disappointing, what's the point of having them rated if we, the Good Sam members and users of the campsites, can't put our up to date review. It appears that Good Sam only reviews them once a year! Lots can happen from one year to the next.

I appreciate the link to that website and will look there if the ratings are more current.

    Thanks to all that replied.

  • Last time I tried to do a review on rv park reviews and tried to log in (already have an account) I got no where. When I went to the forum I saw where it said you had to register for the forum first now. ?? I haven't tried again.

I think they did away with the user ratings, and are now only rated by the site.
