Thanks for the reply/challenge on the California State Parks pricing. 3 years ago we traveled cross country and came into California from Oregon. The cost of camping in California was shocking. We wanted to stay at Carpenteria - $55 with hookups. Went to El Capitan for $35 no hookups. There are other rates on this thread that seem wrong. For example Texas State CGs seem inexpensive but then there is an entrance fee tacked on the daily rate. Georgia does the same thing.
States that don't separate the entrance fee "at the door" have in all likihood simply rolled it into the actual daily rate.
Stone Mountain State Park in NC is $25/night for water/electric and a paved pad. The $25 includes a $3/night reservation fee. There is no daily entrance fee to NC parks. Lake Norman State Park in NC is $20/night which includes the $3/night reservation fee, but that's for no water or electric. There is water that you can get to however. But still no entrance fees. I think NC has some of the lower prices. I think if I remember correctly that Virginia is higher and just looked at a Georgia SP and it was $25-28/night and then you have the daily entrance fee.
