With the money you are talking about, it will be a bare subsistence lifestyle (possible but not fun). Much better to take this time and find new jobs. You are a long way from SS. No way that $100k lasts 10-15yrs.
A fairly basic lifestyle can be maintained for around $2000/month and by $3000/month it can start to be fun (still need to watch your spending).
MH: All require a car unless you want to pack up everything every time you want to leave the campsite.
- Class A likely out of your price range. Nice if you could afford it.
- Class B tiny living is the only way to phrase it.
- Class C (& B+) Probably the best cheap MH option depending on how old you are willing to go and how handy you are mechancially.
TT: An airstream is just an expensive TT more than anything else.
- Nice option if you don't have or want a large truck but be careful most current SUV's are poor towing machines (critical to check the payload as it will often max out before the tow rating).
- As you get up around 28-32', the weights start to push you into 3/4 ton trucks. Really not as bad as you may think price wise and gives you a lot more options for trailers you can select.
5th wheel: They really tow nice. About the only thing comparable would be a diesel pusher MH (which is way out of your price range). For all but the smallest, you need a 3/4 or 1 ton truck. The reason is around 25% of the trailer weight sits on the pin, so payload is usually the limiting factor.
But again, with such a small nest egg, no experience and no exit plan, I'll give you a 75% chance of greatly regretting it if you make the jump.
