Need Help Deciding
I have a brand new Toyota Tundra, double cab, 6.5 ft box, 5.7L engine. I tow a 3,000 lbs hours trailer with a tongue weight of 450 lbs when empty. With one horse and equipment that will bring the tongue weight up to almost 700 lbs with careful weight distribution. My plan was to purchase a light weight truck camper, something like the Four Wheel Hawk, but to my dismay the payload limit of my truck is only 1430 lbs. So that leaves me with only two options - a truck bed tent or a truck camping cap. I plan to camp with my horse spring, summer and fall so I would need something that will keep me warm - with an added heater of some sort. My Tundra presently has a factory hard tri-fold tonneau cover - it came with that - not my choice but it is practical. What is out there that I can add if I wish to keep the tonneau cover on during the winter? Any suggestions?
