How to make long driving more comfortable ?

As a rather inexperienced camper truck traveler, I still wonder how to remove muscle tension after a long drive? I was in a trip kinda that a few times and I noticed that my back suffers a lot after 5 hours drive. What measures do you apply to prevent muscle tension? I looked at some reviews for car massagers best picks and they seem very effective, but is it really so? Express your thought on this case, I would appreciate all your recommendations.thnx
  • I drove a truck for a living, so 10 - 12 hrs in the seat was normal for me. I now drive for 3 to 4 hrs at a time. Stop to eat or fuel, take a small walk, get back into the seat and go. Works for me, adding things on my seat just got more uncomfortable.
  • Looks like the question should be how can I keep driving but still avoid a stiff back when I arrive. Stopping every once in a while did not seem to be a viable suggestion.
There are vibrating pads that plug into the 12 V socket.
We prefer to stop every two hours or less (80 year old's).
  • best advice is like midnightsadie and old biscuit stop and stretch frequently. It not only helps relieve muscle tension but it also helps to prevent driver fatigue. Helps to keep you more alert.
  • We stop 1 hour after departure for a potty---stretch break
We stop 2 hours later for lunch break
We stop 2 hours later for the evening

We don't drive more then 250 miles on any travel day.....RETIRED

Prior to the good life (retirement) we drove much longer distances but basically followed the above schedule....stopping at least every 2 hours of drive time to stretch/take a break
  • take a break every 100miles and walk, sit on the edge of a bench bend over touch the ground about ten times loosens your back muscles.
