If the microwave is working on generator you are getting power to the RV. You can have everything plugged in just don't put a demand on the generator until it has run for a few minutes. Get in the habit of plugging the RV into the generator source anytime you disconnect from short power. It took me a while to remember this step and we would get going down the road and I would have to pull over because I forgot to plug it in.
Also if you have been putting a demand on the generator let it run for a few minutes with no demand to let it cool down before shutting it off.
