Does he use rubber gloves when filling the tank also? Most people just wash after.
I usually rinse my hose out and not the area around unless by some remote chance I spill a bit. I prefer the drain area is dry.
I prefer hose storage vented to the outside.
I installed a Quickie Flush(tm) to avoid the bucket. Cleans the sensors far better also.
I always connect to the sewer before my RV.
Not sure if it is better but I leave the black tank open while I drain the grey. I have a second galley tank to flush the hose again.
