The reason they knew his name is because they have done all his maintenance work for ten years. He travels In it for work and uses it regularly. They are a large rv company and I really don't think they would mislead me. I trust the seller so far and I'm a pretty good judge of character. (my gut)
While this is risky, you're correct. You're buying an old RV. At some point you have to just look at the subjective factors and make the decision.
Get a bunch of pics if it's not stored nearby.
Personal attributes of the seller are a good indicator.
Maint records are a good indicator.
Most of all, just go check it out. Clean and neat or the typical slob reference "needs some tlc"?
Drive it, check fluids, dates on tires etc. is the trans fluid red or is it dirty/old/burnt etc. same for power steering and brake fluid.
Personally I wouldn't buy something that's well used without putting eyes on it. Make a list of what to check including maint items you can't see with the naked eye, like at 100kmi, have brakesbeen done? If it, it means he likely drove it gently. Also means brake job may be needed soon. You get the idea.
I'm sure there's 100inspection checklists online that give you an idea what to look for.
Good luck. It's always fun planning big trips!
