We part-time, full-time. We are in the RV from the end of April until the beginning or middle of September.
We finished up our camp hosting on July 15 and don't start another one until August 1, so we came home early. Arrived and the heat pump had gone out and it was HOT, plus the water heater went out. Cold water and hot air. We slept a couple of nights in the RV sitting in front of our house until we could have a new heat pump installed. (We still don't have hot water).
Yes, we have had a few things happen while out on the road; a couple of blowouts, a water heater that wouldn't heat water, and several other things. It's just a part of having something that travels at 65 mph.
I thoroughly enjoy taking my RV and going to new places and going back to places that I really like. I have MY house, my clothes, my food, my TV, my internet, etc. I don't have to sleep in a bed that has been slept in by 25 different people in the last month and who knows what was done there and by whom. I know for a fact what has been done in my bed and when the sheets and comforter were cleaned.
My parents don't understand our addiction to camping and neither do many of our friends. We enjoy it and while we can, we plan to see as much of the country as we can.
If you haven't done much camping, you do need to try to live for a week or two in an RV before you go in debt or spend a lot of your savings by purchasing one. It's not for everyone, but it is definitely for me.
