The extent of the OP's RV or camping experience is unclear, so it may make sense for him to take it slowly. Some folks enjoy RVing more than others, and not everyone that thinks they'll enjoy it does. RVs have more problems than cars, since they are a lot more complex. You're taking a small house of some kind on the road, bouncing everything around. There are occasional problems, it comes with the territory.
RVing is not cheap, and some money for maintenance & repairs is to be expected. Whether that is more of a hassle than other means of travel is an individual decision, but I wouldn't decide too much solely on the content & tone of this Forum. Go to a RV Show, poke around at a dealer, and talk to anyone you know that camps. Maybe chat up folks if you're otherwise at a county, state or national park that has a campground.
