This is the key statement at the bottom.
A couple of additional points to think about:
When buying a BRAND NEW RV, you'll need to expect a period of shakedown to deal with some number of quality/assembly issues. It's rare in the RV industry that you take delivery of a new RV and it's 100%. Most issues should be minor and all will be under the warranty.
When buying USED, inspect EVERYTHING. If you don't understand how RV systems work at this point, hire an independent inspector to go through it for you. It'll be money well spent if it prevents you from making a huge mistake. If he finds issues and you still want the RV, it'll give you additional negotiating leverage.
Lastly - Maintenance. Whether new or used, a little preventative maintenance goes a long way. Inspect components, check the condition of slide gaskets, roof sealing, tires, etc., etc.,etc.... Deal with minor things as they occur and they won't become big expensive repairs. It doesn't take a lot of time or effort.

Remember that a trailer or motorhome is a big, rolling, bouncing HOUSE. Things are going to break from time to time.
