Hubby and I are not fulltimers but we live in NY and do shows in NY, CT, PA, FL and various other states depending on the year and what we feel like doing. We have a 20 foot travel trailer for "work" and a 24 foot class C for play...we prefer to not pull anything while playing.
Taxes...nowadays most of this is done online so it is really easy to do...the hard part is giving up the money:B You would just need to apply to CAREFULLY researched show and if/when you get in, apply for the sales tax license. BEWARE Connecticut charges you $100 for this privilege so only do it if you are really gung ho on CT. Also, we have discovered that so far Florida is the only state where you can do a show and actually not make back booth/expenses. There are many shows there and some of them are very costly (forcing you to give away a lot of goods before you make money)...so research well. I will no longer do a show unless I have input from someone who has done it before.
Here's a tip: expensive shows don't necessarily mean you are going to make more money. Be wise in your selection of shows and try and keep your expenses down. Making a living at this can be tricky and don't neglect your future retirement; Do you want to have to be doing this when you are 70 years old (not I :() We know lots of artists that failed to save money for their futures and now they are having to work....a long time, forever.
Don't go nuts on buying a new rv if a used one will do for now...you will most likely need another one later on.
We have used many a campground to make product to sell. Hubby does leather goods and I do sterling jewelry.
Ha, we have tooo much stuff to full time!
