The ribbing about selecting the wrong container made me chuckle, though perhaps it is relevant that I am a she rather than a he. Maybe I like the wheels more than you as I am certainly not the most muscular poster here, Still, I do think I could manage to lift and empty this one at an alternate location if I must.
The Reliance Hydroller is the "wrong" container for several reasons - awkward shape for storage, wheels that are too tiny to be practical, plastic handle and wheels that eventually will break from the weight of 8 gals of water - ask me how I know. :M
The Reliance Aquatainer is the "right" container for several reasons - cube shaped so multiple units store with minimal use of available space, won't fall over on an uneven surface, has no tiny wheels that can break, handle is a molded part of the tank rather than a separate piece, is also made of food grade plastic, large screw on intake cap, threaded vent cap that won't leak unlike a vent plug, with a 7 gal capacity weighs ~ 60 lbs when full so it's just that much easier to lift than an 8 gal Hydroller, and it's much cheaper - half the cost of a Hydroller.
The WINNER for collecting potable fresh water or as a reliable, easy to handle, easy to store, far less costly waste tank for off loading grey and macerated black water - the Reliance 7 gal Aquatainer! :B
Right now, I like having the wheels. If the wheels fail in short order, my opinion will change. I will return to this thread and post if and when the wheels fail on my hydroller.
I am glad your system works so well for you. You are making good use of your truck bed. We do not travel with a truck, so we cannot copy your system.
I am glad those with larger totes have a system that works for them.
Since we are still newbies, we do not yet know our wants and needs as well as we will when we have more experience. As we gain experience, we may well invest in a different tote. In our case, a large tote would also mean getting an otherwise-unneeded hitch on the car. Since we may replace that car in the not too distant future, a hitch would be a waste right now.
I posted this on the beginners forum because I thought other newbies might want a small, inexpensive option at the beginning. Happily, other newbies now have more suggestions and can pick the one that might work best for them.
