Right now, I like having the wheels. If the wheels fail in short order, my opinion will change. I will return to this thread and post if and when the wheels fail on my hydroller.
I am glad your system works so well for you. You are making good use of your truck bed. We do not travel with a truck, so we cannot copy your system.
I am glad those with larger totes have a system that works for them.
Since we are still newbies, we do not yet know our wants and needs as well as we will when we have more experience. As we gain experience, we may well invest in a different tote. In our case, a large tote would also mean getting an otherwise-unneeded hitch on the car. Since we may replace that car in the not too distant future, a hitch would be a waste right now.
I posted this on the beginners forum because I thought other newbies might want a small, inexpensive option at the beginning. Happily, other newbies now have more suggestions and can pick the one that might work best for them.
In 4 pages of discussion about such a simple subject :R yours by far is the most sensible. :) It's great that this 8 gal Hydroller works so well for you and my intention wasn't to criticize your choice for the sake of it but to simply point out, based on many years using both the Hydroller and Aquatainer myself, that the latter is IMO the better choice for the reasons I detailed. As for those wandering off topic to discuss the merits (or lack thereof) of where to responsibly dump grey water or to get into an endless debate over small tanks vs large wheeled tote tanks my point simply was there can be times when there isn't a suitable place available for dumping a wheeled tote tank whereas there often is if what you have is a smaller container such as the Hydroller or Aquatainer. Both early and late in the season we've run into this situation quite a few times because the campground dump station facilities have been closed. One particular occasion we were at Lake George RV Park and the only place available for disposing of grey water was the nearby campground bath house, the problem being it was located on a hillside and the toilet facilities were down a flight of stairs from the entry door. No problem - I simply carried my Aquatainers one at at time from the vehicle and down the stairs. Obviously I'd have preferred to use dump station facilities but in this case was happy to have the option available to me to get rid of this grey water - had it been collected in a heavy wheeled tote tank I'd have been stuck.
