Info on roof vents

Oh My, now I dont even know what they are really called. We need to put in a vent/rain gard on the roof of the trailer so we can turn the ceiling fan in the bathroom on even if it raining. Can you tell me what these are called and are they all different of pretty much the same?

yes thats it. Thank you. So is Maxxair better than Camco and is the maxair 2 that much better than maxair regular?

Depends a lot on your fan. If you have standard fan any cover will work. If you have the high velocity 10 bladed vent fan you need the maxair 2. The better maxair also has hinges so you can pull the pin and open it to clean the area under it once in a while.

How do you stop that from happening Scott? Keep the fan door closed when it rains if you can?

Just close the interior vent if there's going to be a huge storm. You'll know it's that bad when you see it hitting the pavement and bouncing back up 6".
  • MaxxAir

We use the MaxxAir cover. They are pretty much the standard that most dealers stock. But it's pretty basic in design so I'd not get hung up on the brand.

You also might take a look at MaxxAir vent fan for better ventilation. The fan moves much more air that that little 4" fan supplied in many bathrooms. Some models are auto on/open and off/close so you can set a temperature and it will cycle on and off to maintain temperature. Some have remote controls since the fans are not always in a place you can reach. Some can exhaust and intake (change flow direction).

Just depends on your budget and what your trying to accomplish.

  • Just beware that if the rain is really hammering down, it can bounce off the roof up into the louvers and get water inside the roof vent. Had this happen with our old TT and had the stained ceiling to prove it.
Other than those rare storms they work great.
  • They are simply "vent covers" They come in different colors. Maxx air is just one brand. If you have the original bath vent then ones like this will work.
